I am an experienced installer with two upcoming 49.5 kw installations: ground mount and ballast. I am interested in the Fronius 44.4 kw inverter. I need to know: Can it be used outdoors? Is it available in single phase (240v) and in 3 phase 208v? (I need both) Can it be installed in pieces less that 100 lbs, without the use of a forklift? Thanks! Sam Avery

Hi Sam,

The Fronius 44.4 kW inverter is meant to be installed outdoors.  The output of the inverter is available in two three-phase options 44.4kW (208V or 240V) Delta or 48.0kW (480/277 Wye).  This inverter is not available in single phase.  Regarding installation, the easiest method woudl be to use a forklift or boom to move around site and into its final position. However, Fronius states in its installation manual that four adults can move the unit after removing the power stage sets (installation manual, page 19). The weight of the 44.4kW and 49.0kW units with the power stage sets are 721lbs and without the power stage sets are 478lbs.

Given the requirements you have outlined (mixed single and three phase as well as manueverable without machinery) might we suggest string inverters?  Products from SMA, Solectria, Solectria and other Fronius options are available to meet your system design criteria.  Give us a call and we'll help you choose the correct componets.
