NERD Power, a solar installer based out of Gilbert, Arizona, made it a goal to accomplish one of their largest residential installations ever. Last year, the Benson property, located in the beautiful Paradise Valley, Arizona, won out for their largest residential-only install for 2019, exceeding 9,000 square feet.
With the help of Greentech Renewables Phoenix, this installation included 81 Solaria panels being mounted to the existing tile roof of the main property structure. Additionally, the build included SolarEdge inverters with accompanying SolarEdge optimizers, all tied to the grid. In total, the solar PV system amounts to 29.16 kW, producing approximately 50,000 kWh per year.
A major challenge of this install for NERD Power was maintaining the overall aesthetic qualities of the Benson residence while meeting their aggressive energy goals. The original roof of the property was made up of Spanish tile, which was not conducive to mounting the Solaria panels needed for this build.
To circumvent this issue, NERD Power converted the Spanish tile roof to a shingle roof portrait beneath the area of the array and then reset the Spanish tile around the installation to maintain the aesthetic of the home.
Overall, NERD Power and Greentech Renewables Phoenix did a fantastic job bringing installation expertise and design prowess to this residential project. To get a closer look at Benson’s installation, check out the video below showcasing the build.
