135 kW Layne Labs Solar Project

Layne Laboratories breeds many animal species, and electricity is a major cost. Going solar will help offset their electricity cost and make other critical investments in the laboratory. This 135 kW project was the company’s first solar project, and Greentech Renewables played an important role throughout the process. Having a low LCOE was a key factor, but Layne Labs also wanted to use industry-leading equipment, expand the system in the future, be able to easily monitor production, and have a seamless installation. 

For these reasons, Layne Labs chose Canadian Solar 300 modules, SolarEdge 20 kW, and Schletter FS Uno Steel ground mount. By using a 72-cell module with 3-phase utility voltage, Layne Labs used one P700 Optimizer for two modules and this helped lower the balance of system cost. The labor and time to install the steel Schletter racks were minimal, which also helped keep the labor down. Layne Labs used the Greentech Renewables engineering services to help get the permit from their utility company. Although the project has only recently been commissioned, Layne Labs is already enjoying significant energy savings.
